Nice, France Tramway Line 2 |
The new (2007) Nice Tramway was getting ready to expand to "Line 2"The city was trying to decide if the route will be up the popular and scenic "Promenade des Anglais" or up two or more "less scenic" streets. Alstom sent a demo version of their newest (and more energy efficient) tram and some rapid reconstruction made a block-long visual of how it would look. They opted instead to put the tramway underground from Place Arson to Grosso. Next revision cut the line back from Riquier to the Port Date is June 19, 2012 The approval by Prefect Jean-Paul Drevet means work on the 758-million line will begin before the end of the year. The most difficult stage involves the construction of 3.2-kilometre long tunnel to the Nice Port, which will begin in 2013. The line should be up and running by 2017.

While Line 2 progress continues, Line 1 has not been dormant
The trams in Nice, France are actually getting longer. Several have been lengthened to 44 meters by adding two new sections. This will allow about 100 extra riders. The platforms have already been adapted for this transition, as a tram extension has been planned for the future from the beginning. Find out more about the extended trams. In a surprise move, Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi changed his mind about running Line 2 up the Promenade des Anglais and instead went with a plan that provides an 8.6 kilometer "tram/metro"
with 3.6 kilometers below ground. It will cost €'450,000,000 and carry 110,000 - 140,000 daily passengers. It will run between Gare de Riquier and new? Gare Multimodal Saint-Augustin.
June 2010: Gare Multimodal Saint-Augustin will take on more importance as long-distance busses move there from the current downtown Gare Routier (bus station) that is closing. In late 2010, a further decision was made to start Line 2 at the Port instead of Gare Riquier. But keep alert for further updates. By Ken Kinlock at kenkinlock@gmail.com |

“We cannot go back in time. However, we can consider economic development in a different light, and put the notion of “protecting the planet” at the heart of each development project. It is essential to rise above political divisions and ask ourselves what measures we can take today for a development that is sustainable and respectful of nature.” H.S.H. What is a Social Supply Chain?
Social supply chain is using "social media technology" all across the entire supply chain : from supplier's suppliers to customer's customers. It means integration of social media technologies (collaboration, sharing) to connect and encompass the participants across the whole supply chain. The customer-facing side of companies is getting busier. Customers use social media to connect with their peers from a marketing standpoint to promote and advertise their services and capabilities. Social media is now particularly important in customer service environments. Consumers are able to communicate with customer service departments through Twitter and Facebook. In the supply chain, companies have begun using social media to work with suppliers, vendors and customers. As an example, they can have discussions on issues and arrive at a concensus. |
